These free tour/guide services are usually staffed by students – high-school, college or university – who speak English. Many of them also speak other languages.


Dressed in beige hats and red vests, the guides are easy to recognise. They are deployed through Seoul’s Volunteer Center to Seouls most heavily frequented tourist attractions to offer convenient on-the-spot assistance.


Seoul-mate volunteers are university students who want to help foreign tourists and expats. They offer special tours of Seoul free of charge that they described as being ‘totally different from typical Seoul tours”.
